Heading to Brainstorm, Fortune's annual conference in Aspen, guided in large part by Fortune's David Kirkpatrick. Brainstorm is a high-wattage event, with world-class speakers ranging from political leaders to technology gurus, including Michael Dell, Madeleine Albright, Queen Noor of Jordan, Michael Eisner, and Senator Sam Brownback. The sessions focus on a variety of wicked problems, such as global warming, economic restructuring, the American competitiveness. Though the sheer number of concurrent sessions makes comprehensive reporting impossible, I'll work hard to get some real-time posts up, and hope to capture a good percentage of the main sessions.

Very interesting. I'm commenting because I noticed you referenced Sen. Sam Brownback. I'm from Kansas, so he's my Senator (naturally). He's an interesting choice for Fortune. A Presidential Candidate hopeful. Super conservative. I would think the other candidates might be a little jelous. Have fun. I'll look for your posts.

I don't know Brownback, but he's scheduled to speak on a panel called, "The Mighty and the Almighty," moderated by Dave Kirkpatrick. Panel also includes Queen Noor of Jordan, and the former German foreign minister. I imagine it's Brownback's cred with the religious right that qualified him for the panel. Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai is also invited for the panel. If they all appear, should be some interesting dynamics...
